I Heart Two Little Red Hens
Last week my daughter celebrated her Sacrament of Reconciliation. We celebrated with a family dinner at home and of course I pondered where will I get her cake from. I knew I wanted it to be sweet and special and immediately thought of Two Little Red Hens. This bakery was introduced to me by a dear friend who lived on the Upper East Side and since then, I would never dare order anywhere else. But of course, I had a flickle heart! Over the years, I’ve ventured off to see what other bakeries have to offer. Oh, I did find tasty ones, pretty ones, moist ones, and everything in between. On this occasion, I decided to go back to my old trusty because I knew they would be no guessing involved - I knew I would get a great cake. I ordered a sour cream chocolate cake, with strawberry buttercream and fresh raspberry fruit filling, with strawberry buttercream frosting, covered with pale pink and white flowers. When I picked up the cake I was floored – it was so so so beautiful – they even added crystal sugar on top so that it was sparkly all over. They actually puree fresh fruit in the buttercream – I literally ate the buttercream without the cake it’s just that good. Two Little Red Hens, I will never cheat on you again!
Cirque Du Bebe Baby Shower
Here is a preview of a baby shower that was recently styled by Petite-Fete. Special thanks to: Suzanne who among so many other things helped create, draw and hand paint the fab photo booth back drop, Susie for brainstorming ideas, day of coordination, Soleil, our day of clown, who even taught herself to juggle for the event, Farah for helping me comb the fabric and flower district for just the right trimmings. More photos of our day of fun and of course the photo booth photographed and blogged about H-E-R-E. Our photographer for the day was the über talented Melissa Lynn of Be Imaged Photography. Melissa is such a pleasure to work with and she totally captured the essence of the day. Thanks to Sean and Rose for blessing our family with such a great joy.

A Family Affair …
Happy New Year!!!! I am so excited to be bringing to you the first new post for 2011 on our new blog platform! It was a great design collaboration between me and Duane Anderson, my totally awesome web designer. This past weekend I celebrated my birthday in the best way possible with my family and a few close close friends. We rented out a cozy space and danced the night away to the beats of DJ Action Jackson ( a surprise to me by my ever thoughtful hubbie!) Dinner was of course to die for as we dined on fried chicken made by the birthday girl, mac and cheese by my sister Rose, sweet potato souffle by my lovely Mom, stewed lobster, shrimp, and conch by Mama Kitchen, yummy mojitos by my sister Lavinia, spicy crab dip by Uncle Phil – I could go on but those were definitely some of the highlights.

To make the evening that more special I had a cake created by a F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S CAKE DESIGNER in MIAMI … Sugar Fancies! I told the owner Sandy that I wanted a cake that reflected a vintage style – old world glamour in creams, peaches, and pinks. We talked and collaborated by email and phone. We came up with a concept and she and her team drew out a sketch of how she envisioned the cake. We decided on a Christian Louboutin Shoe and shoe box along with a Chanel Purse. They were beyond gorgeous – I was totally floored when the cake arrived. The attention to detail was just remarkable. Also, I want to add that Sandy is a dream of vendor to work with!
I especially loved the two cupcake bouquets that were just too cute for words. These would also make a lovely hostess gift – I know I would love to receive them!
Check all the cute details – the UPC label on the shoe box! Love it!
